Getting started
Is my phone compatible with eSIM?
Most iPhones since the XS, Google Pixel 3 and later and recent Samsung Galaxy phones support eSIM. The phone must also be unlocked.
Your phone needs two things to use a TraveleSIM eSIM:
- eSIM support. Most iPhones from the iPhone XS and XR onwards, Google Pixel 3 and later, and Samsung Galaxy S20 and later support eSIM, as do many other recent phones.
- No carrier lock. A phone bought on contract may only accept SIMs from that operator. Ask your operator to unlock it before you travel.
The quick check
- Dial
*#06#. If an EID number appears, your phone supports eSIM. - iPhone: Settings > Mobile Data (or Cellular). If you see Add eSIM, your iPhone supports eSIM.
- Android: Settings > Connections or Network & internet > SIM manager. Look for Add eSIM or Download a SIM.
Good to know
- Phones bought in mainland China, and most iPhones bought in Hong Kong or Macao, do not have eSIM.
- For some Android models, eSIM depends on the country version. When in doubt, use the checks above.
